Pleasantstone Rhubarb

Pleasantstone Rhubarb

The entire Flying Star vaulting team with their most important member, Rhubarb

Dear Mahoney Family,

Our oldest daughter, Haley, recently came across your website by accident, and I realized we've been horribly remiss in keeping you updated on Rhubarb's life. He is a gem, our beloved and cherished family pet. The girls continue to absolutely adore him...he continues to absolutely adore them.

As you know, he lives and works at a therapeutic riding center where he is used as a lesson horse for a few of Forward Stride's larger students but most importantly as our vaulting horse. We took him to the 2006 American Vaulting Association National Championships in Los Angeles (City of Industry) where he carried Sydney Dexter to the title of Women’s Trot National Champion. This year, we took him to the AVA National- Championships in Watsonville, California, where he carried McKenzie Johnson to the title of Women's Trot National- Champion (he's a GREAT trot horse) and our 4 person team of Marci Siegel, Sydney Dexter, Haley Vlastelicia and Britta Vlastelicia (yes, Rhubarb's two little girls) to the title of Preliminary Canter 2-Phase National Champions.

There are 27 horses at our barn, but Rhubarb is considered the favorite by most and the smartest by our barn trainer, Amber Henneck.  He is gentle, loving, tolerant, intelligent and eager to please. He's never been lame in the four years we’ve owned him. We were surprised by his alpha nature with the other horses, but he’s not a bully, just large and in charge.

Although there are many adults and children around the barn every day, he whinnies and nickers whenever Haley and Britta come out and start walking toward his field. Our trainer once told the girls they should feel honored to have Rhubarb in their lives...he's that special. And we do feel honored. I'll send some pictures in the mail. I haven't figured out how to do it by e-mail yet. Thank you for Rhubarb!
