Poniesa-L Show Brag from Kelly Scotthanson about Pleasantstone Halal, (North Fork's Black Earl X Mynydd Hir Boneddiges)

"I am thrilled with my welsh cob mare Bella. (Pleasantstone Halal) I purchased this mare last June and she was more than a little shocked when Gary Aitken of Clanfair fame pulled her from her pasture and broke her and sent her to my farm at age 6. She has really turned into a nice good girl. Today we attended our first dressage show (schooling) with my trainer on her and she got a 61% on her walk trot intro level test. No big mistakes just kidda wobbly. Then she did the Training level one test and got a 67% and won the class of 8. I was shocked.
Best comments were "Nice test!!" and "Shows promise for higher marks with developed confidence"
I've attached a trot and canter photo.
Go Welsh!!!"

Jules', Earls new colt by Nancy Kiester of Glory Trails Equestrians Trakehner mare, Rhodina. Jules is now 2 weeks old and stunningly beautiful...We can't wait to see this colt mature. He is a big show off. We are breeding Rhodina back for a 2009 foal.

Check out this link; http://www.welshpony.org/wpcsanews.htm on the Welsh Pony and Cob Society webpage about what our home-bred geldings have been up to in Florida; For those that do not know it these boys, Duke and Dante are Earl's first born colts.

Sterling Graburn of Florida had already secured the top FEI Single Horse spot on the U.S. team for the World Singles Driving Championships in Poland on August 28-31 2008 with a victory at Sunshine State CDE in February. Naturally he hoped for another win at the prestigious CAI Live Oak on March 27-30, one of only two internationally ranked competitions in the United States. After a ninth in dressage, that outcome was doubtful. A win in the marathon boosted Sterling's standing, but even so he was trailing his girlfriend, Wendy Ying. It wasn't until a fast accurate cones win on the last day that the victory was assured - and then by only 1.72 points. Sterling scored 132.82 with CS Dante of Earl while Wendy had 134.54 with the black hand lookalike brother, CS Duke of Earl. These two are "Born in the USA" by North Forks Black Earl, a Welsh cob stallion in Oregon, from sisters of Arabian and Pinto background.

This is what Wendy Ying said about her baby Duke and Dante';
15.1 hh 9 yr old black sport cob gelding by North fork black earl bred by Pleasantstone Farm

Wendy’s favorite horse. Duke is a Fire, loves to look pretty out in front but sometimes it is hard for him to concentrate. Duke is showing talent for ridden dressage and will be showing 1st level in 2009. Duke is the 2008 USEF reserve champion single horse, 4th USEF HOY, and 3rd in the FEI NA standings. He has also been shown through intermediate in a pair and tandem and team. Duke goes in the left lead for dressage and cones and left wheel for marathon
Cone 20 !!! but what am i complaining about, we ended up USEF reserve national champion coming in a close 2nd to Sterling and Dante.
I was so proud of Duke...after a wipe out on the bridge, he saved his mommy and auntie colleen with his quick recovery tossing us back in the carriage and kept on going, never hesitating a moment over the bridge. He truly is my horse of a lifetime !!!!! Photos by Bob Branam

Dante.... the MVP

15.2 hh 9 yr old black sport cob by North fork black earl bred by Pleasantstone Farm

Dante is a metal, he knows his job and always buckles down and does what he has to do. Dante goes in the right lead. Dante will also be showing 1st level in 2009. Dante is the 2008 USEF single horse champion with Sterling and is USEF combined driving reserve single horse of the year and 1st in the FEI NA standings

Hi julie,
duke and dante are doing great. did you get my email that they are the 2008 USEF Champ and reserve champ single driving horses ? there is a great article about them in driving digest and the USEF equestrian magazine. I will send you copies by snail mail. what is going on with their mommies ? are you breeding them ? do you have any black earl babies from them ? I also started riding them in dressage. At his first rated show, Dante won every class entered and scored in the high 60s at Training level and got his 1st of 2 scores needed to qualify for the USDF region 3 championships. Duke also scored in the 60s but we are still working on his canter....he would prefer galloping on marathon to dressage !!!

Hello,
I just recieved an email (by way of the Yahoo Pony Group) of a foal by your stallion and a Trakehner mare and I have to say...what an amazing cross that is! I then proceeded to your website and I am very impressed with the information you provided on the Welsh Cob. I have been hoping to promote the breed here in my area and so far it has been successful, but every little bit helps. I wondered if you would mind if I added your site as a link on my website Angela Marks Welsh Cob stallion, Midas, owner.

He is just TOO CUTE! best, Lisa
