Hi Julie,
I am enclosing pictures of your ‘boys’. On the left is Owen dob. 11/9/01 and Eddie, dob. 10-30-04 I had their pictures taken professionally at the local park. This one was so cute that the Santa Rosa newspaper printed a copy of it with the daily weather. Several people called me to talk “Corgis”.
They are both happy and very entertaining. Eddie is so smart, probably the smartest dog I have ever had, though he does enjoy eatining worms!! Owen sleeps on the bed at night with me with his head on the pillow and his legs sticking up in the air-to cute!
Anyway I thought you might enjoy the picture and to know that your puppies are dearly loved.
All for now

Hi Julie,
This picture truly captures the spirit of a Corgi doesn't it?
Great little guy all around! He is having a play date with the neighbors laso/shitzu mix right now and loving it.
Have a great week!

Dear David and Julie,
Just a quick note to let you know how our beautiful Sam is doing.
He is 3 years old and such a handsome boy! We just got back from a
camping trip and i thought you might enjoy a recent (muddy) photo.
Hope all is well in your corgi paradise!
Fondly,
Katherine Adrian

Dear Julie,
It is so nice to hear from you. I can't wait to see your new web-site.
Please keep me posted on its progress! And let me know if I can
contribute any more photos? You are welcome to all that I have.
Our Children are doing great. Alexandra our oldest is in high-school
now as a sophomore. And Calvin is in 5th grade.
When I mentioned to Alexandra that you had some puppies you were going
to bring to new homes, she got that look in her eyes.
She is determined to have her own corgi since Sam has adopted me as his
human to shadow.
I don't blame her... it is pretty wonderful to be the center of a
corgi's enchanting life. He has taken on quite a status her, and gets
a ton of praise from anybody in he know about corgi's as well as those
that have never seen one before.
I will put the word out that you have a few boys left. I wish I could
have one, but 2 dogs keeps my hands full at the moment.
All the best to you and yours!
Katherine (Sam's Mom)
Hello ALL!!
We are PROUD to announce the arrival of our newest Family Member! HIS name is Johnny (Jonathan Julian Pleasantstone Anderson), a Pembroke Welsh Corgi (you know, the same canine the Queen of England has a bunch of...); born April 1st, 2007. He weighs approximately 10 lbs. and will top out at about 25 lbs. when fully adult... about 8-10 months from now. He's already settled into the Anderson family - and Lady is tolerating him!! Sarine and Johnny are equally smitten with each other, spending the WHOLE day together while Mick is at work in Grants Pass. He's a Big Dog in a Little Body... and isn't afraid to be rough and tumble!! He loves the swimming pool, but has second thoughts about the hose... We've attached a few photos for your viewing pleasure, and will send more upon request. He has the look of all three of our "musketeers"... Penny, Lady and Daisy...
Happy summer to all!
~ Mick & Sarine
P.S. We're heading to Puppy School Thursday night... pray for us! Hee Hee.... A very smart loving and loyal breed... read up on 'em!

Julie,
Ok, you asked for The other dog on the bed is my daughter’s husky, Bodie. My granddaughter loves the girls as the corgi size works much better for her. She cried when I left as she had been my partner in talking the dogs out for walks while we were three. She took Zoey, while I had Frannie.
For my daughter she remembers what it was like to have a corgi (we got our first when she was about 9), and how that dog was her best friend. My daughter, Shannon, and I had talked about her getting another dog when I was talking to Richard about the girls. Shannon had her eye on “Miss Personality”, with her floppy ear. Everyone agrees that the two of them together is best and I couldn’t imagine it otherwise now. Thanks goodness you held out for them to both go together.
Anyway, the big question is if you have a Julie and David corgi that could be adopted and loved by my granddaughter, Hannah?
My whole family loves the girls, everyone who met them are just putty in their paws. People can’t believe what sweet dispositions they have.
Looking forward to hearing from you and hope David and the boys are well. Terri Parker, Sacto. Calif.
Hi Julie and David
We've just returned from our experiment to see just how hard wired the
herding instinct is in Turpin and Hobbs and the PWC in general.
We drove up to Santa Rosa with some other corgi owners to a Pembroke Welsh
Corgi Club of America herding instinct trial. It was held on a sheep farm
and they started with a demonstration of a corgi herding sheep.
The dog was absolutely amazing and would circle the sheep or move them to
one side or lie down to point in the direction he wanted the sheep to go.
In the end he herded them neatly into a pen bunched in a tight group. For
the trials they put each corgi into a pen with three sheep and watched what
happened. A professional herding trainer worked the dogs and tried to gage
their instinct for herding. The first several dogs stood and stared or ate
sheep poop or barked and wanted out. I
figured it'd be pretty much like this for most of the dogs. Then a couple
dogs got in and really ran the sheep around, bunching them up and really
showed the ability to herd.Turpin was number 10 and Jasper was in the pen
with him. Turpin got in the pen and sniffed around. Then he looked up at
the sheep and you could see the light bulb go on. Jasper took him off the
lease and suddenly he started chasing the sheep, circling them, then moving
them from side to side to follow the trainer who was in the pen with Jasper.
He'd herd the sheep, then present them to Jasper. It was really amazing
for the normally sedate Turpin. He ended up getting the herding certificate
which was quite remarkable.Hobbs was number 12 and I took him in. He showed
all the signs right off the bat and started herding them around with great
vigor. But being the easily distracted youth he is, he lost interest and
started to wander and look at the other dogs. Finally we gave up and he
didn't get passed but he definitely has the basics. I have no doubt if we
do it again next year he will easily do it. Both Hobbs and Turpin when they
got in the pen knew what was going on.
It is definitely hard wired in them and comes from good breeding. In all
about 20% of the dogs passed, so that says a lot for the fine dogs you
raise. I know everyone says this of their dogs, but I must say that both
Turpin and Hobbs were by far the most stunning dogs of the group of perhaps
40 corgis. We got a lot of very nice compliments.
I thought you should know. Best, Gary
I have to tell you that Rowdy has made himself right at home and seems quite comfortable with us. He has all sorts of toys but he prefers to find his own "toys" by sneaking under the bed and carrying off my flip flops. He is so precious and we absolutely think he is the greatest. And what a pleasant surprise that he sleeps through the night. Rowdy is really eating plenty now and has lots more energy. He is looking absolutely gorgeous. We took a short trip to WA state to visit my sister and her family. Everyone and I mean everyone who saw Rowdy loved him. We visited Gig Harbor and so many people had to stop and pet him and tell him how cute he was. Rowdy travels extremely well in his doggy crate and hasn't been carsick once. He's looking especially handsome after his bath this afternoon. We promise to send more pics just as soon as we have time and can get him to hold still. He keeps us very busy during the day, but then he's tired enough to sleep through the night. Take care, Marianne, Bob, and Mr. Rowdy
Thanks for breeding and raising a wonderful corgi puppy.
Dear Julie,
We are *so* excited about our new puppy! Thank you so much for agreeing to
take a deposit. All of us are thrilled that we are getting another Corgi from
you. Our beloved Ceri has turned out to be the perfect "family farm dog". She is
7 years old now, so the time is right for us to add another Corgi to our
family.
Thanks again,
Beth O'Mahony (and Erin, Ruairi & Barry)
Julie,
Ok, you asked for pictures. Here are the ones that my daughter sent me from

go together. So, when I was up in Portland we tried to look at what was happening
with your web page, but when I tried and since, it seems to be down. Are you
working on it? Anyway, the big question is if you have a Julie and David corgi
that could be adopted and loved by my granddaughter, Hannah? My whole family

Julie,
Just wanted to let you know that Daisy Duke is doing wonderfully. She is the
most amazing little being. She has made friends wherever she goes. I take her
to school to pick up my kids and about 30 children surround her
and pass her around and she is so sweet and loving to them all. We could not
love her more and feel that she has always been a part of our family...we just
can't imagine not having her! Recently, my daughter had her 10th sleepover
birthday party and 12 girls all slept on the floor...of course with Daisy Duke
right in the middle. Most of the girls didn't want to leave and go home in the
morning and all of them greeted their parents at the door with, "Mom, can we get
a Corgi?" I have passed your name onto 2 people who are looking for Corgis and
am quite certain in the next couple of years Iwill be contacting you for another
one to join Daisy. Daisy keeps us laughing all day with her antics...we love the
way she stretches out on the floor with her legs behind her...we have never seen
a dog do that before! Also, she loves water and I bought her her own little pool
which she wades in whenever she gets hot. Even so, every day she paddles in the
water bowl she shares with Reba, our Border Collie...Reba's water is always
dirty because of Daisy! I took her to a horse show last weekend and she was
great. She is pretty comfortable around the horses and was very patient waiting
for me to ride, etc. Everyone loves Daisy...she is quite popular and is getting
pretty famous around here for being the cutest, smartest puppy ever. Kids want to
come to our house just to see her! We started puppy training classes a few weeks
ago and she is quite smart...of course you know that! Thank you so much for
giving us the priviledge of having Daisy in our lives. We adore her and a day
does not go by that she does not bring us joy!
Thanks, Pam O Shae
Dear David and Julie Mom and Dad. I thought you might like to see some recent pictures of my adventures. Dad and Mom and I walked up to a cool waterfall in Jan, it was a neat walk, about 2 miles. It was sure cold at the falls though, that white stuff on the edges of the falls are ICE! I am doing my best to do the shiny eye devil dog imitation, maybe Mom will get more techno-savy and get that out! Dad left home for a few days last week. I was so sad, I missed him so much I just moped around the house all day. Mom took me out for walks and threw squeekie for me but nothing seemed like much fun. i love to go everywhere with him, he takes me into auto parts stores and lots of other places. I am good with my sits and stays so he can do that. It is warming up now so I won't be able to go as much with him. Mom fixes my kong toy so I have something to do in the yard.
My family left in Jan to go see a mouse in someplace called Disneyland. They left me with one of the trainers at the doggie classes they had been attending. She boards dogs but it was more like a vacation for me. I stayed in her house and she had her yard divided into large fenced areas. She let me go out to play with some other dogs. It was fun and much better than "doggie jail" at the vets or the boarding kennel. Mom and Dad took me to a "tricks" class in Feb . I have learned to roll over (no legs to get in the way) and we are working on "say your prayers". I also know how to wave, high four and give me 5! Will I do it everytime mom asks me to? That's another story! I hope you are settled in at your new home. Mom liked your web site, it's very pretty. She also likes to look at the corgi pictures. Hope to see you this summer, love Myna

We simply can't thank you enough for this wonderful dog. He rode around in the
basket at petsmart like he owned the world. Keoni slept all the way home and
then played like he owned the place. My other dog loves him and they
get along great. The older dog kinda walks around watching out for him like
she is the mother taking care of him. He loves my boys and they run and play
all day. Keoni sleeps good and he has not had one accident in the house. He
just tells us when he needs to go outside. It's amazing. Everybody loves him! I
have attached some pictures for you. I will update you as he grows and does cool
new things.

David and Julie,
Kip (because he's the color of kippered salmon) is a real gentle boy. I took
him out to interoduce him to my sis and her family. The girls adored him and he
followed them around the house. Their cat, Bubba, wasn't quite as friendly, but
I will have to say that Kip was a little gentleman and gave Bubba his space. He
seems to be adjusting well. Thank you so much for letting me adopt this little
guy. My co-worker suggested I use him as a therapy dog. I am a therapist and he
would be wonderful with my clients. I haven't decided yet, but that would be a
great opportunity to have him at work and he has a lovely disposition. I shall
see.

Mom and Dad Mahoney -
Today was a big day for me. I went to the warehouse where my adoptive mommy
works. She set up a nice bed by the window and a bed under her desk. I had toys
and treats. I didn't like the gate at the door of her office, but it's there to
make sure I don't sneak off on any unsupervised adventures. I met many people
today. I met my mom's assistant Krista, who snuck me off to the copy room to
help her copy. I also got kidnapped by Mom's boss Julie, who thinks I'm very
cute and she kept sneaking me treats. I got to help Mom with some customers, and
I also got to play with the warehouse guys. Did you know that there is a hawk in
the warehouse? I tried to get it, but it got away. Then Poncho and Adrion
brought me back to my momma, who had a snack ready for me.When we got home, I
ran around the house looking for my new daddy and sister. Found them. Then mommy
made me dinner of yummy puppy chow kibble mixed with some soft stuff. I liked it
a lot. Then I trained my people to take me for a walk. I sit by the door and
stare at them. They jumped and took me on a very nice walk. I'm going to do the
exact same trick to them tomorrow. I bet they haven't caught on. I miss you
lots, please give hugs to Abram and Wheat for me.
Big puppy kisses
Love, Tegwen
PS. Mommy attached a picture of me on my stairs. I can go up and down them
really good now!
Hi Mahoneys!
Always nice to hear from you. Wanted to let you know that the two guys are both
wonderful and we enjoy them immensely. Hobbs has moved right in and is a great
addition to our family. Needless to say they're both famous in these parts. Hope
you all are well. We send you our sincerest wishes for happiness and health.

Hello first Mom and Dad and an early Merry Christmas. My Mom was wondering how
to access your corgi families newsletter. She has seen you mention it on the web
site but is technologically challenged and can't figure out how to find it. I am
fine, Mom has gone back to work so we don't get out as much as I would like but
I did a class in Agility in October. it was a 4 week class. Initially i was
pretty scared and wouldn't do much without a
LOT of coaxing and roast beef but once I figured out how fun it was I had a
great time, it was so fun to go over the jumps, dog walks and go through the
tunnels, Mom could hardly keep up with me! Now we have started another 4
week class "family dog 2", there are 8 other dogs there and we are doing
different training things. None of the other dogs are as cute as me though. In
January Mom wants to go to a "tricks" class. I can wave and jump in a circle and
do both a lot to get treats out of Dad. Mom and Dad bought a small trailer and
want to do some trips next summer. They want to take me too, maybe we can stop
in and say hi. Love Myna
Hello! Just wanted to drop you guys a few lines. Keoni is doing very well. He is the light of our life! He is so cute. He is now starting to get big. People around us are noticing his ears getting big. He took his first camping trip with us this weekend out at our ranch. My friend has a small pug and it was funny because for 4 days Keoni hearded him around the yard. Keoni is very smart and he loves everyone he comes into contact with. I have taken alot of pictures of him but thought I would send you a few of my favorite.
Dear Julie and David,
I am so sorry that I haven't sent more pictures of Miles. He will be 3 years old
in August. He is happy, healthy, and doing great with my son, Kyle. We love
Miles and do not know what we would do without him in our family...
Please be assured we are taking good care of him and Miles is taking good care
of us! Love, Rita, Kyle, Courtney and Kelsi Gilbert in San Rafael, California.
Dear Julie and David --
once ever so often, but not often enough, one is fortunate to meet wonderfully warmhearted people
such as yourself, and we consider ourselves blessed to meet up with you and your special sons [as
well as Jake]. It is too bad that we live so far away.
Thank you very much for reassuring us on Jake's behavior - we never had a 'new' adult dog but
only puppies, and we all know how they are ;-) He likes to follow Yvette around and even stands
up for her, resting his front paws on her knees and occasionally 'kisses' her; he is just so very sweet.
. This evening we also gave him
a bone to gnaw on and he took it into 'his' carrier
which he seems to prefer over his nice and cushy bed.
He kept busy for some time and seemed very content.
Have a great week!
Harro and Yvette

I have had lots of comments on her and quite a few people asking where I got her
from.
Thanks and Gretta send doggy kisses,

I have to say that I've been intrigued by what Claire told me of you and your family (human & critters) - it sounds like the perfect environment for a nice, well rounded puppy to be born into and develop in. I think that it's very important to a dog's temperament to spend their first weeks as a part of a family instead of just a kennel dog. Since I've started looking into breeders over the last couple years, I have to say that I'm somewhat disappointed by some of the dogs I'm finding in our wonderful breed! I don't like some of the trends I'm seeing in temp. & looks. I have owned Corgis since 1979

Julie,
You'll be pleased to know that Lucie ( Cornerstone
Bobolink) now has 6
points towards her championship. She has decided that the showing thing
isn't so bad after all.......we're still working on her to put her ears up
in the ring, but she's so cute, the judges like her anyway! <G> She also
got herself a little ring-side fan club at the last show........she just
went from one kid to the next getting pats and love.......then I had to
take her in the ring and SHOW her !! Ha. She's very sweet and gets along
well with our other dogs, especially Archer, the boy pup.

Julie,
Today Rufus is 4 months old, so I thought you might like an update on how he
is doing. In a word, he's great.
He is up to 18 pounds now and holds his own with 30-pound Maggie. They
roughhouse around a
lot, but Maggie is very tolerant of the obstreperous kid.
Rufus appears quite intelligent and responds well.
We will be taking him to an obedience class in late April.
We're indebted to you for raising such an outstanding corgi.

Dear Julie,
Things are going well and is already leash trained and house brokeor at least no accidents. Didn't wine at night and sleeps through the night till I get up to take him out. When I take him out the 3 outsids cats walk with him. The inside cats well they are getting use to the idea. They well sleep with him on the bed. Only once he found the litter box and got high centered in it. Good thing I clean it every day. The only thing we have to work on is the stairs and riding in the car. He don't like the loud noised of the trucks but in time this well be ok. He is the greatest dog. Love his temperment. In the future I think I might get another one, just love those Corkies!! Thanks so much I'll write on his developement again. Thank again Helen Ocampo ((Days Creek, Oregon)

Julie, it is so good to here from you. We bought our
wonderful Jax from you last year September. I must tell you he is a
wonderful partner. He is smart, sensitive, loving and just an all round
fantastic kid. He has recently started in agility and is doing quite well.
Last weekend I took him to an AKC trial and he got his first blue ribbon.
There were 12 dogs in his novice class, he had a perfect score and his time
was 10 seconds under course time. He is a natural at herding also. He loves
kids and is particularly affectionate to little boys. I will send you some
family pictures, of JAx and his family soon.
I just wanted to say thank you for giving me this wonderful little guy. By
the way he is completely spoiled, he sleeps in my bed right next to me with
his own pillow, which he lays his head on, and cuddles next to me.
Talk to you soon,

Dear David and Julie, little Cecily (Named after a character from The Importance of Being Ernest ; our puppy's full name is Cecily Belle Cardew) is doing just fine. She's such a darling, and we're very lucky to have her. She and our Bloodhound Scout seem to get along nicely together.
Don't worry, your puppy is getting plenty of care and Love, thank you so much for bringing her into our lives, I'll write from time to time with more news,

She has been such a joy, so much fun and the 'BEST DOG'. I could not have
made a list and gotten a better dog. Sassy is everyone's friend and
ready to meet new people and dogs at the mear mention of an opportunity.
If at some point you have a male Corgi that you release at about 9 months,
as you did Sassy aka Squab, I would be most interested, Sassy would love a
playmate and I another Corgi.

Our puppy has a great personality and we are having fun
with him and I think he is having an
enjoyable experience exploring new spaces. He can now go up and down the
stairs of our old four story cluttered house... He is now a friend to three
out of four cats, grabbing them by the neck and them pawing him in battle.
Thanks again for our new family member.

Hi Julie,
I thought I would write you a note about our little guy, Cody. We all enjoy him
and his special personality. My students at school had the best time with him
this year, he loves everyone and they all seem to love him.We all love him alot
and are very happy to have him in our lives. Thankyou, Rosemary
Dear Julie,
As you can see from the photos, the "girls" are doing very well in their show careers. Peaches started the weekend off by winning Best
Puppy in Match ( about 35 puppies) at the match held the evening before the show started.
Peaches won Winners Female all3 days of that show for a total of6 points.
At the Assiniboine Kennel Club show April 27, 28, 29th--peaches started off by AGAIN winning
Best Puppy in Match ( about 40 puppies) at the Puppy match the evening before the show started.
Peaches won Winners Female the first day, and Best Puppy/ Best Puppy in the Herding Group the
next day. the judge appreciated her pretty head, neck and way of carrying
herself, also we got her to move out a little and this judge really likes a free-moving dog. Paris
won Winners Female, Best of Winners ( 2 points ), Best Puppy. Then Best Puppy in the Herding

Paris and was always annoyed that the judges always picked Peaches over Paris.
Peaches now has 8 points towards her championship I wouldn't be surprised if she
finishes her championship at the next show. Paris now has 2 points towards her
championship if we can get her to show like she did on April 29th, she'll give her sister a run
Insret picture ofPeaches CH
for her money!!
We are having lots of fun with them, and they are growing up nicely and fit in well with
e other dogs. I like their temperaments Peaches is very personable, very steady, and quite
intelligent. Paris "the Princess" is also very personable, sometimes does as she pleases, and is
VERY intelligent! They are both extreme "water dogs", and jump in the pond every chance they
get I have to pick up the water bowl in the kitchen when they are in, because I usually go in
there to find one of them standing 'soaking' their feet in it! ! (Grin) Paris has a very good nose
and spends a lot of time sniffing out gopher holes, chipmunks, etc. They both have very good and
free movement and good feet. I prefer Paris front assembly and head to Peaches', but Peaches has
a very good topline and outline.
I hope to have you a vey nice boy to send to you in the fall.
Karen Traa and all the Corgis at Ultraa
Julie,

Hi Julie,
The Paris-Henri babies are quite beautiful........looks like our lines
really mesh well. Paris is just an excellent little brood bitch--a real
little pro already and so calm about the whole thing.......we haven't had a
bitch like her since Kricket. :>) I am so pleased. David still calls her
'Princess' most of the time, which she is, of course.

Hello from the Jones' in Wilsonville OR.
Dear Julie,
Our near-former-puppy, Madison, is doing VERY WELL!
She seems to have kept much of the coloration of her sire, BlueJay.
She immediately adapted well to our 2 10-year-old cats, and still treats
the female cat with great respect. She even attempted to come to the rescue of
the male cat when a (poorly-trained) neighbor dog cornered him in a hedge....if
the door
had not been in the way, I think there would be one less Shar-pei in this world
(not to
worry, the cat survived and is in good shape). She also acts our "sheriff",
breaking up cat-fights
and insisting that no one runs in the house...woe be unto ankles that are caught
at a gallup! She
knows when it is play time (and she plays *hard*), and when it's time to be
serious. She's the
source of a thousand times more joy than consternation for our family.
I am so impressed with her intelligence (aka "hard to keep entertained"),
her love for all people and animals, and her strength, will and innate joy
for life. You raise wonderful animals.
Again, thank you for allowing us to adopt and care for Madison. She is a
very welcome addition to our home.Randy, Vicky, Sarah and Ian Jones
<<Hi Julie,
How are you? We are doing great! Luka is doing great. He is
such a joy to have and we love watching him curiously sniff EVERYTHING. He
also has learned to play fetch with his favorite toy, the hippo (which he
can be seen sleeping next to in one of the pics). He handled the car ride
home extremely well. He's really a little trooper! I took him to the vet
for the initial check-up and he got the all clear. I think the doctor (who
owns Corgis himself) wanted to spend more time playing with him and he
complimented his great personality (Luka was just being so good and friendly
to everyone). The doctor wanted to know more about you so I gave him one of
your cards. He said next time he's thinking of getting another Corgi he'd
definitely would want to talk to you. Last Saturday Martin and I took Luka
to his first puppy class and we had a lot of fun. This week of practice we
are assigned to do "sit" and "down" which he has mastered already! I think
he really likes the treats ;-) and he can't wait for the next session! He
got along with the other puppies just fine although there was one that like
jumping on everyone else and he didn't seem to like that too much (I don't
blame him). But, he didn't freak out and took care of himself. Anyway,
everything is going well and although we were really nervous at first, I
think we are starting to feel comfortable with taking care of Luka>>>>

These are some recent pics of Luka and a friend he met at the beach. We are having so much fun with Luka and he has really changed our life for the better. In fact, Martin has been so enthusiastic that he wanted me to ask if Luka's brother was adopted yet. Warmest regards,
Stacy Walsh
Dear Julie,
As for a name, we finally settled on Zoey.. I think Zoey
will fit her well - just the right amount of sassy, but still intelligent and loving.
Anyhow, we have thoroughly enjoyed having her - we're so glad we made that
visit to you. We are constantly amazed by her intelligence. With few
exceptions she is already potty trained in the house. So
long as they are willing to pet her, she just loves anybody that comes
along. We even took her to the Beaverton Farmer's Market with us for some
socialization the other weekend - and she loved it. Lots of people at the
Market stopped to enjoy her. She was definitely a hit.
Carol's been taking Zoey to work during the day. Everyone there has taken to
her, commenting about how much they miss her when she's not there.
Thank you so much for our Zoey,
Dale and Carol
My wife Carol and I wanted to give you an update on our
baby.
Anyhow, Zoey has been a WONDERFUL companion to us. She has the best
personality. She loves everyone - people, dogs, cats - everyone. She is
extremely smart - we've taught her several tricks - sit, down, stay,
rub-your-nose, play dead, roll over, spin (kind of a spinning dance on her
back legs), put-the ball-in-the-bucket (doggie basketball) and wait (she
waits at the curb until we release her to cross the street when we're
walking). She loves the mental stimulus of learning and performing her
tricks. She loves the cookie treats she receives for a job well done even
more.
We've gone through a couple of obedience classes together. These are more of
a learning experience for Carol and I to learn how to keep up with Zoey,
than a difficult experience for her. She of course views her classes as a
great opportunity to go play with other doggies. One of our classes even had
a male Corgi Zoey's same age. They were a riot together. We have been
seriously considering an agility course for her as well.
We're sure that she
would excel and would adore the challenge of the activity.
Of course, Zoey is completely adorable - every day when we're walking her,
several people will stop to pet her and/or enquire about what breed she is.
Zoey, of course, loves the attention. One of her favorite activities is
rolling in the grass. She would make a great judge in a "perfect lawn"
contest - the more lush and green the grass, the better it is to roll in.
Zoey's fairly small, I think, for the breed. I'd guess that she tops out at
a little better than 20 pounds. She was the smallest puppy in her litter, so
we're not surprised. She really has turned out to be the perfect dog for us,
given our lifestyle and living environment. A bigger dog wouldn't be nearly
as comfortable in our city back yard and would probably do a lot more damage
to the gardens. As it is, Zoey has her racetrack worn in around the
perimeter of the yard - she gets excited and just has to run in circles!
Just don't try to catch up to her - she's much faster than any human, even
on those stubby little legs. Mostly she leaves the plants alone. We've had a
few plant casualties, though. They're great fun to uproot and toss around
the yard sometimes. But the plants are replaceable.
One thing that we have begun to consider, since we love Zoey so much, is the
possibility of getting another Corgi as a companion. We'd probably want to
get a little older dog (around Zoey's age, maybe a bit younger). I don't
know if you have any availability on a little older dog, but I thought I'd
check. We've not confirmed that we are going to do this, but I thought I'd
check availability. Please let me know what your puppy availability is, so
that we can decide.
Best Wishes

She
is well adjusted to the household and is actually trying to run it!! No one is
more surprised than myself that her best friend is our male cardi Fred. He
really doesn't take to other dogs well, but seems to love her. We took her to
Columbia MO KC show last weekend and she did better than expected. No
hesitation or shyness. Go gettum attitude and everyone thought she was
wonderful.
My vet friend, Dr Mary looked her over and just loved her and her personality.
We had a training meeting the other night and she would get all of Linda's toys
out and then go from person to person begging attention. Linda's smooth fox
terrier. Tabby, ignored her but Gretta just saw another playmate. She has no
inhibitions and wants to be the center of attention. No problems with a bath.
she is the easiest corgi I have had to housebreak. She goes to the door and
whines to get out. Such a pleasure!
I have her pic up on the website and have gotten more e-mails lately for a
puppy just like her!
We are planning on going to the CWCCA National in St Louis in May and are going
to come back through Rock Island, IL and show one day. That is the plan for her
first show. She will also start herding in May with the rest of the crew.
Attached are all the pictures a friend took after a nursing home visit the day
after she came to us. She is really all I could have hoped for. Thank You
Julie!!!
Lots of Hugs and Doggy Kisses,
Cindy and the crew at Foggy Bottom
Julie, it is so good to here from you. I was just telling my daughter in law that I was going to call AKC tomorrow to try to find you. We bought our wonderful Jax from you last year September. I must tell you he is a wonderful partner. He is smart, sensitive, loving and just an all round fantastic kid. He has recently started in agility and is doing quite well. Last weekend I took him to an AKC trial and he got his first blue ribbon. There were 12 dogs in his novice class, he had a perfect score and his time was 10 seconds under course time. He is a natural at herding also. He loves kids and is particularly affectionate to little boys. I will send you some family pictures, of JAx and his family soon.
I just wanted to say thank you for giving me this wonderful little guy. By the way he is completely spoiled, he sleeps in my bed right next to me with his own pillow, which he lays his head on, and cuddles next to me.
Thank you for a wonderful Corgi,
MAry Lynn Dawson
Hi Julie,
Lucie went to her first class on Thursday ( drop-in because I don't have
time to go every week) and it was a little too much for her to take in all
at once, so she just stayed in her crate until she felt more comfortable.
By the end of the night, she was able to go around the ring, but she let it
be known that she'd really rather be at home in the water puddles or on the
couch. <G>
TOday she went to her first match, and she did very well, considering that
Thursday was her first time in a situation like that. She went around the
ring fine. She has no problem with people......they are all just fine to
her--everyone is there to pet her. :>) The noise and hustle and bustle is
a bit much for her, and she doesn't appreciate the leash much, but we'll
work on that. Her first show will be the first weekend of May ( she just
turns 6 mths that week) and we are going to a show away from home 8 hours
west of here. Just her and 2 other dogs, so she'll get lots of extra
attention and we should have lots of time to spend with her. That's very
important for a first show.
Lucie is a real little darling.......she may not be the best show dog,
because at this point, she's far more interested in cuddling up to
everyone. That doesn't worry me at all. If we can get her to enjoy the
shows, I'll get her championship.......if she absolutely hates it, she can
stay home and be spoiled.
> Thanks for a VERY cute little dog!
